MigrationMoving from another system

Bring your customers, services, domains, history and support threads across from WHMCS or Blesta, and check each step before your customers see anything change.

How it works

Four steps, each one checked

  1. Preflight

Point it at your export. It reports counts, missing fields, currencies and duplicates, and imports nothing.

  2. Map

Decide what becomes what. A column GENV does not recognise is refused, never dropped without a word.

  3. Import in stages

A large move runs in parts, each checked before the next begins.

  4. Reconcile

Compare counts and totals with your old system before you switch anything customer-facing.

What comes across, and how

Customers, services and domains become live records you work with. Invoices, payments and credits arrive as imported history in their own tables: none of them becomes a GENV invoice, nothing recalculates them, and your invoice number series counts only what this workspace issues itself.

What moves, and how it is treated
DataTreated asWhy
Customers, services, domainsLive recordsYou act on them tomorrow
Invoices, payments, credits — paid or openImported history, in its own tablesNothing recalculates or bills against them, and they take no invoice number
Support threadsImported historyRead, searched, and reopened when a customer replies
Products and pricesRebuild by handCopying old products copies old mistakes
Stored card detailsNot importedThey belong with a payment processor

Money still owed at the switch stays with your old system. An imported open invoice is a record of what that system said; GENV does not collect against it.

Questions

Will my invoice history come across?

Yes, as imported history in its own tables rather than as live invoices, so nothing recalculates a past invoice against today's rules and the amount your customer paid stays the amount on record.

Can I run the import more than once?

Yes, and you should. Keep the export unchanged, fix the mapping rather than the data, and run it again until the counts and totals match.

What about services already running on my servers?

GENV can link an existing hosting account to its customer, but never by guessing from a username: it needs the provider's own evidence or a named person's confirmation, one account at a time.
